On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, top technology leaders from across greater Houston’s ISDs and educational institutions gathered at Lone Star College in The Woodlands for a day of thought-sharing and collaboration.
Keynote speech was provided by Link Alander, CIO of Lone Star College, who said:
“The Tech-in-Ed Summit provided a fantastic opportunity to collaborate and connect with other area IT leaders in education. This was especially helpful in connecting us with the ISDs in the Lone Star College service area. I see this collaboration continuing and the event growing in the future. Well worth our time to attend.”
The morning began with the Executive Panel, featuring prominent technology leaders from across Houston ISDs.

Moderator Brandon Brennan from Alchemy Tech Group leads discussions on the Executive Panel.
Attendees participated in various breakout sessions covering a range of topics, from Cyber Security to Infrastructure and Enterprise Client Management.
Lee Milam from Okta moderates the Server Administration breakout session. Key topics included current AD challenges and initiatives, identity automation in place, object storage and cloud provider challenges.
Attendees from Spring ISD and Lone Star College participate in the Networking breakout session, where they discussed current wireless and LAN project challenges and solutions.
Trey Baumgardner from IGEL moderates the Enterprise Client Management breakout session. Topics of discussion included Windows 10 migration, personalization and roaming profiles, AV solutions and deployment initiatives.
Jae Shin from Varonis moderates the Cyber Security breakout session in the main room at Lone Star College. Attendees participated in discussing cybersecurity trends and practices and how to optimize performance for an educational institution.
VMWare Chief Strategist Christopher Reed moderates a breakout session with the Executive Panelists.
Attendees enjoyed catering from Katz’s Deli as they chatted with our sponsors, including Fortinet, IGEL, Ivanti, Okta, Tenable, Varonis, Veeam, VMWare and Western Digital.
The Expert Panel provided some key insights into current trends of today’s K-12 ISD and higher ed spaces.
