EUC Strategy: Where VDI, Cloud PCs, and AI Fit

IT teams are being asked to support more access models, more endpoint types, and more user expectations without losing control. That is the real pressure behind current EUC strategy decisions. VDI still matters, but it cannot carry the whole plan

One of the clearest takeaways from our In The Lab session with Omnissa was that VDI is still a core part of many enterprise environments. The reason is simple. Many organizations still run business-critical applications that are not a fit for browser delivery or native endpoint execution. VDI remains a strong fit where control, app compatibility, and security requirements are still high.

But the session also made clear that EUC strategy cannot stop at VDI. Teams now need a way to decide where VDI, cloud PCs, DaaS, and SaaS each fit based on workload, user profile, risk, and cost. That framing matters because many environments are no longer centered on one delivery model. They are mixed by design.

Visibility matters as much as delivery

Another important point from the webinar was the shift from infrastructure-centric monitoring to end-user experience visibility. The demo showed how administrators can move past an executive dashboard view and look at what users are actually seeing across managed devices, virtual sessions, and application delivery paths.

That is where many EUC programs stall. Teams can deliver desktops and apps, but they still struggle to connect performance, support issues, endpoint state, and user experience in one operating model. The session also tied that issue to AI and automation, showing how those capabilities can improve support workflows and operational visibility when they are applied with clear intent.

Consolidation only works if it does not create tradeoffs

A third takeaway was the idea of consolidation without tradeoffs. That is an important distinction. Cutting tools is not a win if it removes functionality your team relies on or forces a weaker user experience. In the session, the discussion focused on reducing overlap while keeping control, and on giving users a consistent client experience across on-prem and cloud-delivered options.
